Wanda Mumm
After graduating from Iowa State
University in 1976, Wanda Mumm's interest in nature and wildlife led her
toward a painting career. Since her first show in 1978, each year has
proven to be more successful. She has, over the years, studied with such
illustrious wildlife artists as Robert Bateman, Carl Brenders, and John
Seerey-Lester. Each of whom helped in developing her own natural skills.
She began to gain national recognition
for her paintings of birds, winning the 1989 Oklahoma Duck Stamp
competition as well as being selected as an artist for Pheasants Forever
and the National Turkey Federation. In 1992, Wanda was named Featured
Artist at the National Wildlife Artshow; Guest Artist at National Ducks
Unlimited; National Turkey Federation Artist: and Minnesota Raptor Center
Artist.
In the ensuing years, Wanda has been
spending more and more time on the National Show Circuit: making
appearances at the Seattle Art Expo, the Pacific Rim Wildlife Show, the
Oklahoma Wildlife Show, the Wild Wings Fall Festival, and the Easton
Waterfowl Festival among others. In spite of her busy travel schedule,
Wanda continues her commissions of original art used for greeting cards by
the Lean'n Tree, and her collector plate series distributed by the Lenox
Plate Company.
