Bradley Jackson
Bradley Jackson grew up on the Allagash
region of northern Maine. Here, among the pristine rivers and deep woods,
Jackson developed a love and understanding for the land. It's been an
influence that continues to this day and is continually reflected in his
paintings.
Jackson has traveled extensively throughout the United States,
photographing and absorbing the beauties of the various regions. Those
memories are etched in his mind as sharply as the white-tailed deer and
high flying hawks of his youth.
Before beginning a new painting, Jackson will spend many hours studying
and researching his subjects. Only then will he begin his self-taught
style of painting.
Jackson works in a mixed medium of acrylics, watercolors, and freehand
airbrush. Using the smooth surface of an illustration board, he begins
laying in the background using thinned watercolors with a freehand
airbrush. His backgrounds tend toward the soft focus: detailed, yet soft
and shimmering and serving as a counterpoint to the sharply detailed,
acrylic-edged focus of his subjects.
His technique, often called "photo-realistic," enables Jackson
to capture his subjects in his own unique way, and gives the viewer a
feeling of being part of the scene.
