Dave Chapple's proclivity for art as a
young boy was matched only by his passion for sports. When the Buffalo
Bills drafted him into the NFL straight out of college, it was a dream
fulfilled. In 1972, while playing for the Los Angeles Rams, Chapple led
the league in kicking and was named All Pro, but throughout his
professional football career, art remained his passion.
Chapple's quest to tell a story in each
of his works of art has led him to explore and experiment with a variety
of media from watercolors and oils to multi-plate etchings and bronze
sculptures. Over the course of his artistic career, Dave has moved from a
highly detailed illustrative style to the looser, more impressionistic
style of his current work.
